The new FEI measuring device explained - and why the r3vobanD passes with flying colors

From May 1, 2025, the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) will introduce a new measuring device for checking nosebands at all international competitions worldwide. For many riders, this raises questions: How does the new system work? And what does it mean for riders who use paddings such as the r3vobanD?

How the new FEI measuring device works

The aim of the new device is clear: an objective and uniform check to ensure that nosebands are correctly buckled and do not exert excessive strain on the sensitive nerve and bone structures of the horse's head.

The measuring procedure involves placing the device between the noseband and the horse's nasal bone to check the correct distance and the necessary flexibility.

The official FEI guidelines clearly state that additional padding under the noseband is permitted as long as it does not hinder the insertion of the measuring device. The decisive factor here is that the padding gives way under slight pressure and can be compressed.

Why the r3vobanD works perfectly
